| HP DVD drive FIX | |||
| I am a technician and programmer by
trade and I just fixed this problem on my DV4000. The drive door had been opening when not commanded, I could not open it
when I wanted to and the only way I could get it to work was to press the
door in. I originally thought it was the connector. I opened up the drive
and then thought that the problem may be the door switches. Long story short the door switches were not getting depressed far
enough. The fix is very easy, you do not to remove the drive, it involved
placing masking tape on the plastic finger that comes in contact with the
micro switches. Open the drive door, flip the computer bottom side up and place a
thick piece of tape on a plastic finger. This causes the switches to
depress further. If my Fix helped save you some time, money and heartache please make a donation in appreciation. Thanks!
