Bill Hammers Jr. & Sr.

I discovered while traveling with Bill Hammers Jr. to the Rocky Grass Festival that Bills father had a truck It has been a lifetime dream to rebuild an old truck. I had a 1954 Chevy ¾ ton when I was 17. At 17 years I discovered I didn’t have the resources to accomplish a project like this. My mother sold it to get it out of her back yard when I went into the NAVY. My dreams were reborn when I saw Stage V at the Winfield Bluegrass Festival. I didn’t want to duplicate Russell Brace’s 54 even though a 54 is my favorite. For the past several years I had been keeping an eye out for the right truck.1 Aug
I went to see the truck for the first time. The picture above of Bill & Bill
was taken then. I make a deal to buy
truck for $400. Bill Sr. began working
on getting the title stuff taken care of.
